What IS a website, anyway? |

Building a website is like building a car. You can start anywhere you want, and include the options you want.
If you're building a dune buggy, then you won't have as many parts as a Cadillac.
Remember... many times you have to BUILD your own parts from scratch! So be careful of what you ask for!
FORD engine parts do not fit on a CHEVY, however you can still locate SOME interchangeable parts like spark plugs,
tires, fan belts - only because these parts have become a "standard" over the years.
In building a website, each type of Server Software supports different functions, just like Ford is different than
a Chevy.
About your website.....
Do you want a Cadillac? A Corvette? Or a putt-putt Hyundai?
Each one will get you down the road - but in different styles, and with different features- at a different cost.
There are two costs involved:
- getting it built
- hosting/delivery on demand.
BUDGET usually controls what your website ends up with.
If you're currently spending $350 per month on a Yellow Pages ad, we can help cut your costs in half.

- non-framed pages

A website can be:
- static (where you change your website periodically)
- dynamic (where things change for every visitor, usually controlled via a database or "Server-Side Includes"
if any are supported by the web server software.
If you have access to the Root Server directory, it can contain programming code from the following languages:
- visual basic
- dhtml
- ihtml
- php
- asp
- javascript
- server-side java programs
- free-standing executable programs
- and other Forms, using the internet standard called the Common Gateway Interface (CGI).
Depending on how a website is designed, your designer can design your website to be (a) easy for the average person to understand, or (b) hard for a visitor to maneuver around. ( Pick one. )
The Designer needs to know various ways to accomplish these goals. A designer who only uses ONE program (such as Front Page ) probably doesn't have the experience level to properly design a company website. In addition to the graphic features, the website must be so designed to consider:
- that most visitors will not come in through the front door, but from one of the other pages.
- that most visitors will give you 5 seconds to decide if you can answer their question.... or they're gone.... elsewhere..... to your competitors.
Therefore, if you want to capture the viewer's attention, your website designer needs to be
- a Master of Advertising, (know how and why Advertising works)
- a Master of Marketing, (know how and where to Market what YOU have for sale)
- a Master of Promotions (being able to successfully promote your product or service)
- and fourth, a Master of Technology (to put all those features & functions into an easy-to-use format for the customers.
