Why Banner Advertising
on 1USA.COM
and its affiliated websites?

The bottom line of advertising is to attract new business.
In the whole world, there are only two ways to generate business:
(1) offer more products to existing customers
(2) attract more customers
Companies choose various venues for their advertising, depending on many conditions including product line and
service area. Advertising on the internet is relatively new. Many people don't understand it and simply put up
a Web Page and hope for the best. They soon learn that their website isn't generating the anticipated income. This
is because people are out there surfing the web looking for various topics of interest - not generally looking
for you.
While they might stumble across your web page, you should also think about promoting your website like you'd promote
your storefront and attract customers by mentioning some features and benefits of your product or service.
If you advertise in a newspaper, you get charged for the distribution, be it 5,000 copies or 200,000 copies. We
know that hardly anyone reads a newspaper from cover to cover - and the people are interested in the news or the
stories... nobody is interested in reading the ads!
Out of 100,000 printed copies, you might get a response rate anywhere from 0 to 100 interested people. Your cost
per inquiry is [Cost of ad divided by the number of sales generated] and hopefully you'll realize a profit when
all is said and done. Imagine how unsuccessful a newspaper would be if they put all the news in Section 1 and all
the ads in Section 2!
Likewise, on the internet, people aren't really interested in your company - but don't feel bad just yet.
They're interested in the features or benefits of what your product or service can do for them and how it can improve
their lifestyle. Your website and your banner ads need to tell the people what you can do for them!
To promote your company on 1USA and our inter-connected websites via the Banner Exchange, a graphic needs to be
created. The graphic, measuring 250 pixels wide by 55 pixels high x 256 colors, is discussed further below. Here
are a few samples:

Do you see that the ads promote a feature or a benefit vs.only a company name?
The banners rotate each time someone visits a web page with a Banner. The banners rotate in sequence. Some 1USA
pages contain banners that change every minute; a 1USA innovation in 1996.
Rather than the large 600 pixel wide banner size seen on other sites, we feel that smaller 250 x 55 pixel banners:
(a) load fast,
(b) contain enough space for an advertising message,
(c) offer more advertising opportunities because they fit better on many different page layout styles, and
(d) are not as obtrusive to the viewer - but just as inviting for those who are interested.
Since 1USA has the ability to display multiple Banners on a page, there are more advertising opportunities than
on other website domains.
When a person clicks on a banner, it will take them to your Home Page URL or other designated page. A banner will
link to one location. If you'd like to promote 3 web pages, then you need 3 banners. As a member of the Link Exchange,
your first banner is free.
