Domain Management
A domain name is the essence of your online identity. It is the
address your customers use to find information about your products and services on the web. What are the fees to register a domain name? The 1USA pricing structure starts at a flat $14.95 per year. The price includes all fees associated with registering your domain name including internic fees and parking fees. If you register your domain for two years, it is only $29.90. This is less than 50% of the other national registrars. 1USA offers wholesale domain prices. Our commitment to low prices reflects both volume savings, as well as the efficiency of our leading-edge automated technology. We pride ourselves on providing competitive prices as well as superior customer service with ALL of the services that 1USA offers. What does it mean to "register" a domain name? There is a central registry of all domain names on the Internet. For your domain name to become a part of the registry, your domain name needs to be added to that registry. "Registering" a domain name means you are associated with that domain name for the period of the registration. Who should register a domain name? Business: Anyone thinking about establishing a presence on the Internet should
register a domain name. How long does the registration process take? The application process should take only a few minutes to complete. All registrations take place in real time. Once your application has been processed and approved, your name is registered. Is it possible for someone to register my domain name after I have registered it? The availability of .Com, .Net, .Org, .Biz and .Info domain names is verified through a central registry system. This system prevents a domain name that is successfully registered from being registered by another person or entity. Our registration and processing system updates the central registry in real time. What methods of payment is accepted? All major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. If a domain name is already registered, can I find out who owns the name? Yes. If you check the availability of a domain name and it is already registered, click on the box: "Show Registrant Information". This will display the contact information associated with a registered domain name. Who do I contact for additional assistance? If you have other questions or need information that is not contained above, click here to send an email to us. I've got my domain name, now what? There are many things you can do with your new domain. Some people want to build a website for their corporate or personal use. If that is the case, you must contact a web design/ hosting company like 1USA. Once we have a website ready for you, we can "point" your new domain to that website.
I own a new domain, but when I type it into my browser, nothing comes up. A domain name is not the same thing as Web Space. If you want
your new domain to be a web address for a website for your corporate or personal use, DNS (Domain Name System) is a system that translates a domain
name from letters (www.1USA.com) into a numerical IP address (199.190.65.3). This works just like an automated
phone book!! Why would I need to change my DNS information? If you already have a web site or an email account that you want 1USA to host, 1USA will ask you to change your DNS information (we would become the new DNS host) so that your domain name can be connected to your web site and your email account can be setup. How do I change the DNS information for my Domain Name? If you are changing DNS information on a domain name you registered
with 1USA, begin by clicking the "Manage Domain" link above. You will be asked for the username
and password you designated at the time you set up your domain account. If you have forgotten your username and
password, you can have it emailed to the email address you have on account. If you no longer accept email at the
same email address used to register your domain, you're out of luck. How long does it take for DNS changes to take effect? Typically, the DNS changes will be completed within 24 to 72 hours. This is standard Internet propagation time. The central registry databases update automatically.
