CallWave and Pagoo.
We found that CallWave worked better than Pagoo in a few locations but Pagoo worked better than Call Wave in most locations.
This could be caused by either the phone line or the computer. My suggestion is to try CallWave first - because it is free (and what is the true cost of some free software? Advertising! )

Call your phone company and activate the "Call Forward On Busy" feature. When calls come in, the calls are redirected to one of these two services.
Alternately, if you have two phone lines, you could direct the incoming call to another phone line.

Pagoo: Pagoo's Internet call waiting and Internet answering machine software allows you to receive phone messages while you are online.

It also has a caller ID feature which displays the caller's phone number, if available. Although it costs $4.95 per month up to a rediculous $9.95 per month, it has a free 30 day trial which allows you to evaluate the software free of cost. Don't let the fact that Pagoo is a paid program prevent you from trying it out.
