How to fix the W32.Blaster.Worm |
|
| What the W32.Blaster.Worm does: It makes changes on the computer and causes Windows 2000 & Windows XP to shutdown by itself. It does not infect Windows98 or WindowsME, only W2K and XP. It also tries to infect other computers via your internet connection. For people who have DSL or CableModem connections, there is the potential to infect a LOT of other people quickly. During the first two days, 1USA has blocked more than 350,000 attempts to infect our Web Servers and Email Servers !!! Note that this virus does NOT travel via Email. It infects the computers directly via Port 134 & Port 4444, and it gets past Firewalls. 1USA now has a program to fix any damage. 1. Download and run FixBlast.Exe to remove the virus. 2. Download and run this program for Windows XP to prevent further infections. If you have W2K, then download this program instead. 3. Disconnect from the internet so the computer does not get re-infected while you're installing the fixes. 4. Afterwards, if you have not done the WindowsUpdate as requested yesterday, please do so promptly. Alternate for step #1: a. Pull the plug to disconnect the computer from the network or internet connection. b. Click on Processes in the Task Manager and end the msblast.exe process. This is the virus that has circulated. c. Do a search of your computer for msblast.exe and delete all files by that name. d. Restart the computer and do Step 2 above. BarryZ www.1usa.com |
