There are various types of "Digital Subscriber Lines" (DSL). 1USA uses the ATM-DSL packet protocol which results in a better Class of service than "standard" DSL service. On the 1USA Network, one Static IP Address is standard - not optional! Your local phone company provides the circuit into your space and delivers the packets from our backbone lines into the neighborhood telephone equipment, then onto your line. This path is the same regardless of which DSL service you sign up with.

We recommend that you do not maintain an "always on" connection unless you have a correctly configured Proxy/Firewall unit in addition to software firewalls on each computer (ZoneAlarm, PC-Cillin, etc). We recommend that you click and Lock the firewall if you will be away from the computer for an extended time.
For larger networks, 1USA.COM can assist in purchasing suitable Network Security equipment, available separately.

1USA has a great reputation for Support. Many types of additional services are available: Phone line wiring, Unlimited Local & Long Distance calling, Additional IP Addresses, Additional e-mail addresses, X-Stop (safe surfing). Hacker prevention analysis. Custom configuration of your Proxy/Firewall available. Professional Installation is available. Installation for additional computers or re-installation will be invoiced separately.

Compared to Verizon: We offer Static IP addresses, they don't. We offer DHCP Network installation; they don't. We offer Network Security; they don't.

Multi-user Game-playing is encouraged but Hosting of any Servers such as web servers, mail servers, FTP servers, Game Servers, Kazaa File Sharing etc. is not allowed on the Residential class circuits.
