1USA MegaSpeed is a solution to the problem of slow internet serivce.
Slow internet service occurs on 56k connections, most DSL connections, some Satellite connections and even some Cable-Modem connections.
ALL can benefit with 1USA MegaSpeed service.

1USA MegaSpeed is software that makes your connection faster. It does this by "shortening the distance" between the websites you visit and your connection AND by reducing the number of packets needed to deliver data (web pages, email, files, etc.) to you.

You can install software on your computer to access our system of servers that are strategically placed around the USA that receive the data; then Zips the data into smaller files and sends the smaller files to your computer in a more efficient way.

     Example #1:
     Let's say you visit a web page that is 80k in size and includes text & graphics.
     Megaspeed will compress the 40k of text down to 4k; and compress the 40k of graphics down to 20k. Your computer receives 20k of data, not 80k.
     Since you receiving 1/4 less data, it takes only 1/4 the time to deliver it to your computer. Ta-Da... it's 4 times faster.
     But.... if the web page displays banner ads, pop-up ads and even pop-up windows, you're probably downloading 300k of information, not the initial 80k. MegaSpeed will remove all the junk. Your connection will fly!

Do I have to be a 1USA Subscriber to use 1USA MegaSpeed?
     In the past, you had to quit an ISP service and join 1USA to get the MegaSpeed software to work.. No longer.
As of 6/5/2004, 1USA MegaSpeed is set up as a separate service. If you have a friend that subscribes to another ISP service like NetZero, SBC, Juno, CompuServe, etc., they can now take advantage of the faster speeds too.
However, if they were to switch to 1USA for their connection, they would receive other benefits -- such as those listed on the Benefits Page, such as: Email accounts will be better protected at 1USA, and they will have access to 1USA Advantage website (our Members-Only areas).

How do I get started?

1. Signup for the MegaSpeed Service. You will receive an email with your unique Account ID
2. Download the MegaSpeed software or install from our 1USA CD-Rom.
3. Then, when you receive your Account ID, log off the Internet and close all programs (including your browser), double click on the file that you saved on your desktop, and follow all prompts through completion. The computer will Restart after the installation.
4. During the install, type in your unique Account ID that you receive in the email.
5. Log on to the Internet and the icon will start animating as soon as you start browsing. Point to it to see the effective speed. It's THAT easy!
6. Delete the 1USA-Megaspeed.exe installer or copy it over to a floppy disk. Don't install it a 2nd time.

The accelerator software is very easy to set up and use, the technical support required is amazingly easy to grasp as well.

Can I use E-bay while the Accelerator is enabled?
Generally, no problems are indicated.  However, if a difficulty is encountered, right click on the Accelerator icon, select “Settings”, and under “Plus” uncheck “Maximum Privacy Protection”.

Click on “Tools” – “Internet Options” – “General” – under “Temporary Internet files” - Delete cookies - Delete files (check “Delete all offline content”).

Can I use the Accelerator along with my Firewall?
Your firewall must be set to allow full internet access to Pxui.exe and Pxclient.exe (as in normal use)(This isn't anything special.)
 

How do I un-install the service? 

• Close all running programs, right click the Accelerator icon and select “Un-install” from the menu.
• Or, click Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, scroll down and locate the “Internet Accelerator”, uninstall, follow all prompts through completion, restart the system.

How do I cancel my MegaSpeed account?
To unsubscribe: 

- Right click on the Accelerator icon to the left of your computer clock

- Left click on “My Account”

- Select “Cancel Subscription”

- Select “UnSubscribe”

- Wait for “Cancellation Successful” screen to appear before exiting

- A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address as shown in your account information. Forward the email to the 1USA Webmasters.

What to do if you get a “Conflict” error massage after installing the Accelerator?

A Conflict error message indicates that your computer is running conflicting software.

Solution 1 - Disable the conflicting program, if known

Solution 2 - Perform the following:

Click Start, then Run, then type -  msconfig, click ok, then choose the Startup tab and uncheck all the boxes, except PxClient.exe, click apply, and ok then you will be asked to restart your computer, please do so. Usually in XP windows you need to uncheck all the boxes except pxui.exe/automation.

The “Conflict” error may also appear if you are using the same access code on more then one machine, or, have two user names on the same machine.

Solution - If using Windows Profiles on your computer: Prior to switching users, disable the Accelerator and log off completely from one user before logging on to the other user, this will avoid conflict.

Why do I see “Effective Speed: Check later”, whenever I point my mouse cursor to the Accelerator icon?

“Effective Speed: Check later” indicates either you are not online or the Accelerator software is not properly set up.

·         When installing, to properly set up the Accelerator, please save the file to the desktop.

·         Log off the internet and close all programs (including your browser), double click on the file that saved to the desktop, follow all prompts through completion.

·         Restart computer (if, not automatically performed)

·         Log on to the Internet and the icon will start animating as soon as you start browsing. When you point to it, it will display the effective speed.

Or, simply right click the Accelerator icon and select “Repair”, following all prompts through completion.

What about McAfee?

1) Under Firewall Internet Applications allow "Full Access" to all applications. 

2) Set Firewall Security Settings to "Standard", which will prompts you about unknown applications, but does not automatically disallow them. 

3) Finally, set "Firewall Alert Settings" to display any application requesting Internet access, so you can make the decision yourself.  

PxClient.exe and PxUi.exe must be set to allow full access, in order for the Accelerator work.
