SULFNBK Hoax
Description: This hoax warns against a virus contained in a file called SULFNBK.EXE, that is supposed to arrive hidden in an email message.
SULFNBK.EXE is a Windows System file that is installed with the Windows Operating System.
SULFNBK.EXE is a system utility used to restore long file names on the Start menu, when it is replaced with MS-DOS-compatible (short) file names in 8.3 format. For example, the Accessories folder on the Start menu may be displayed as "Access~1" if the SULFNBK utility is not installed. This file is not destructive, but it can be infected by a virus in remote cases.
Do not download any such program if someone emails it to you. Keep the one you have, which was installed with Windows.

Please do not propagate that email, which is a hoax.

AOL has a price increase, of all things.
AOL's new price for monthly access is now $23.90 per month. It is the first time since 1996 that any National provider has raised prices up past the "standard" $21.95 per month.

1USA's price remains at $18.95 per month, with discounts down to $16.50 and $15.00 per month for longer subscriptions.
Micro Air Computer Store and other retailers have tested AOL, Earthlink and 1USA in a Side-by-Side tests with the following results:
- 1USA is 30% faster than AOL
- 1USA is 20% faster than Earthlink.
Why? Because when you connect to 1USA, you are connected to a system that provides a 64k buffer, running on trunklines that have the ATM Protocol for automatically resizing of packets to squeeze your packets through the busy network.
The buffer downloads at 64k, then spoons it out to your modem as fast as your modem can handle it - in a continuous stream of data without the 'wait' in between the packets. 1USA has designed a very efficient network.

Microsoft & Sun settle Java Lawsuit
Microsoft recently agreed to settle with Sun Microsystems lawsuit regarding Java technology used in IE 5.0. Microsoft will pay Sun $20 Million.
To protect developers using Microsoft's outdated version, Sun has licensed Microsoft to distribute its newer versions.
BarryZ told you about this last year.

The Wall Street Journal says that 64% of internet theft and rip-offs occur in auctions, like eBay and Yahoo auctions.
1. Research the seller.
2. Obtain a street address and a phone number.
3. Order from US sellers only, if you can. Many people in foreign countries will tell you to mail a check - and that's the last you hear of them.
4. Use an online Escrow Account, like eBay's or PayPal
