Another new virus:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new TROJ_MSWORLD.A virus sends itself via Microsoft Outlook to all addresses listed in an infected user's address book. It disguises itself as a Flash movie file, and arrives as an email attachment. A sample of the email is as follows:

Subject: Miss World
Message Body: Hi, [email recipient] Enjoy the latest pictures of Miss World from various Country
Attachment: MWORLD.EXE, MISSWRLD.EXE., or MISSWORLD.EXE (varies)

Upon execution, it displays a series of pictures that are supposedly of Miss World contestants. Upon the next bootup after infection, this Trojan displays a message and reformats the infected user's C:\ and D:\ drives.

Trend Micro pattern file #898 and above detects and cleans TROJ_MSWORLD.A.

You can read more about TROJ_MSWORLD.A at the Trend Micro Web site

On the wake of AOL announcing their price increase to $24.95 per month,
1USA has the following Good News!

Eastern Net of Humacao, Puerto Rico has joined the 1USA Family. Eastern Net is an ISP with excellent coverage in Puerto Rico. Eastern Net will be referring mainland customers to 1USA, and will be selling and installing Satellite Service in Puerto Rico. 1USA recently referred 171 Satellite Customers to Eastern Net.
If you know anyone in Puerto Rico who needs internet access, referrals would be appreciated.

Abacoinfo of Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas. has joined the 1USA Family. Mike Bodamer is installing Satellite Dishes throughout the Bahamas, where the average cost for a Dialup Account is $50.00 Per Month (US equivalent) and $450.00 per month for a 56k Line with a Static IP address.
(Sun, Surf, Sandcrabs are Free - but phone service is expensive!)
The government-owned ISP service should really benefit when most of the data from Dialup Customers now sent through their public telephone network will be diverted to the 1USA Satellite Service, freeing up approximately 25% of their landline connections !!

Our T-5 Satellite is now online, offering dynamically assigned IP addresses.
No Static IP Address is required like on the GE4 satellite. Ground Control recently converted from a VPN Virtual Private Network management system to a Proxy management system between June 1 - June 7 2001. This will make this SatMex5 satellite run faster.

Today's subject:

Internet Scams
by Richard Shaner, 1USA Subscriber

I had a conversation a while back with 1USA staff members about writing a review of some of the
Internet scams going on.

I have come across a web site that has some very good information about Internet scams.
http://www.scamresource.com/
The site has some very good information about many of the most prominent scams happening on the 'net.
If you visit the site, be sure to read about the Nigerian scams. I was almost taken in by this one.
Fortunatley I found the truth before it was too late. Although I did have a $300 phone bill from all the
calls and faxes I placed to Nigeria.

While the site does have good info, its also out to sell a manual called "The Million Dollar Manual". In
general I think this site was setup as a marketing tool for the manual but if you visit the site you'll see that the idea that you have to buy this book isn't shoved down your throat and doesn't overpower the rest
of the sites content. Ssince after reading through the info about this Million dollar manual, the
thought of purchasing it held no intrigue for me.

The FBI's web site for info about internet scams is a program they started in May of 2001 called operation cyber loss. The site links to the gov's Internet Fraud Complaint Center where consumers can register their complaints and reports losses.

BarryZ says:
When a "make money" opportunity is presented to you, you have to stop and think for yourself because nobody else is going to do it for you.

Think about:
- how you found out about the offer. Was it a stranger, a 'friend' or was it a 'real friend'?
- your initial feelings.
- what you found when visiting their website. Is it all hype?
- how you 'sat back and reviewed the statistics. Separate the hype from the "real" offer.
- and your feelings when you put the Pros and Cons down on paper. Did the offer still look good?
- and your feelings about your resulting decision.
- and most importantly..... Why do they need You?

and then:
- Do a little test marketing. Without signing up for the program, mention it to your intended buyers and see if they like it too. Once you get a good idea if it will be accepted by them, THEN think again whether you really want to get into it or not. -- but only if it's a legitimate company, not a Scam.

Notice I use a lot of 'feelings' above - because your Judgement needs to guide you.
Being a "sales" person isn't for everyone. Some programs really work - like selling Security products, etc. or selling 1USA Internet Services.

Hey, how many people now sell Beanie Babies? Hundreds, yes?
So, you can now see that the money in selling Beanie Babies wasn't in selling them Retail -- the money was selling them wholesale!!! And if you've visited the Dollar Store lately, they're all over the place. Somebody lost Big Bucks on that.

I remember a few years ago when Multi-Level Marketing companies were selling Phone Cards. The phone cards could be recharged - but the sales rep didn't share in the revenues! They were only paid on the initial sale. Hogwash.

And... where is the money in Amway, Mary Kay Cosmetics, or Baskets?
While these are reputable firms, you'd still put in a lot of effort. Do you really have the TIME for that?

I've even had a
long-time friend call for over a month trying to get me to sell $99 per month flat-rate long distance. I kept saying No because I was too busy.
Six months later, the company changed their name, they changed their website, and everyone who didn't PAY $400 to signup was let go. Another rip-off.

My friend got ripped-off, and now he has egg on his face too.
Again, trust in your OWN judgement -- not someone else's.

The best way to get started in a part-time venture:
If you want to be a salesperson for something-- then sell a product or a service that you know about!
Take a hobby and turn it into a business. Have the 'technical' knowledge first, then gain the marketing & Customer Service experience as you go along. Customer Service is #1, along with a very high quality of the product/service. Be reliable and trustworthy.

BarryZ, 1USA
