The UnFamous Right Click - Things to do with your right mouse button.
      I say un-famous because not many people know about it.

Ever wonder what that button on the right side of your mouse is for? If so, you're missing out on some great stuff. Right clicking your mouse presents many new options to you just when you need them most.

For example, here are some great ways to right click when surfing the web...

- Right click on a picture or image and you can save it to your computer.

- Right click on any hyperlink and you can open the linked web page in a new browser. (I usually surf with 4 or 5 open browsers!) You can also copy the link for pasting into another application such as an email message.

- Right click on a blank area of a web page and you can print the web page, view the source code or html, refresh the page, bookmark the page or make a shortcut to it.

By the way, right clicking is not just for web surfing. A few more popular right click uses for Windows users are...

- Right click on your Start button and you'll get a popup menu of shortcuts that includes the "find" utility on your PC.

- Right click on any blank space of your Desktop and you can change monitor settings, background or screensaver.

Upset when AOL increased their price to $24.95, a website put out a "notice of a new virus named AOL.EXE".

Rover-Rage Resolved

A former Pacific Bell telephone repairman has been found guilty of tossing a little dog to its death in heavy
traffic in a bout of road rage, according to published reports.

Andrew Burnett, who had been jailed last year on unrelated charges of stealing thousands of dollars worth of tools from Pac Bell, could get up to three years in prison for killing Leo, a fluffy white bichon frise.

The case enraged dog lovers, who donated $120,000 to find Leo's killer.

Who would have thought "the Cable Guy", aka Jim Carrey, could be surpassed in real life?

      I say un-famous because not many people know about it.

Ever wonder what that button on the right side of your mouse is for? If so, you're missing out on some great stuff. Right clicking your mouse presents many new options to you just when you need them most.

For example, here are more great ways to right click when surfing the web...

- Open a new window:

As I mentioned, I regularly surf with multiple windows open. That is, I surf many websites at once. To open an additional window in your browser click File, New, then Window (or "Navigator Window"). Or you can simply hold down your Ctrl (or Command) key and press N.

- Use the Links Bar!

Another cool feature that lots of folks don't know about in Internet Explorer 5 is the Links Bar. This is a quick access bar to your favorite places on the web. To view the links bar, click View, Toolbars, then Links. You can add new links to the Links bar as desired. Simply navigate to the web site that you want to add, grab the little "E" logo next to the Address (just in front of http:) then drop it onto the Links bar. To remove a link from the links bar just right-click on a link in the Links bar and delete it or rename it. I like to keep a handful of my most commonly accessed sites in the links bar for one-click access.

- How about a little background radio?

Another neat feature in IE 5, which I've started using lately is the radio feature. To activate this, click View, Toolbars, then Radio. A radio button will then appear in your browser. Click it and select your favorite station! I like to have my Boston Red Sox games on in the background when I'm working. (Though sometimes it adds to my usual frustrations!)

- Want to erase your tracks?

Here's one more tip you might like to know. When surfing the web your computer keeps track of everywhere you go. It is then simple for other users of your computer to be a little nosey and peek in on your trails. That little trail can be viewed simply by clicking the "History" button in the center of the Internet Explorer toolbar. So if you don't want your wife to get riled up when she sees you spent an hour at the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit site, here's how to remove your tracks...

Click the "Tools" menu then choose "Internet Options." Under the "general tab" there is a section called History. Simply click the "Clear History" button and your history files will be deleted. In that same area you'll also notice a box that controls how to long to keep track of history files. If you want NO history files to be kept, just change that number to a zero. When you are done click OK.
