The 1USA home page links to the 911 tragedy have been moved to http://www.1usa.com/010911/index.html The new page has links about Jihad and some background information about the Middle East. Learn a few things about the way of life over there. You will definitely be surprised.... TV is illegal in Afganistan, Western haircuts are illegal, you go to Jail if your beard is too short, Women do not have an identity and must be escorted on the streets, etc. Can anyone say "Freedom?" Yes, it's a different world outside the US borders. You young kids don't know how good you have it. 1USA has a Newsletter for "Good Friends", check it out. |

If your kids are sharing MP3 music files over the internet: Sony Music is scanning the internet looking for illegal MP3 music files everywhere on the internet. They are specifically after dial-up accounts who share MP3 files via Aimster, Incubus and other file-sharing software. Sharing your own music creations is OK. Sharing music written or performed by a professional Artist is not. The federal Copyright law allows penalties up to $100,000.00 per song. Individuals who get sued by Sony, will need to fork out $6,000 to defend their innocence in a Federal Court. In addition, 1USA would get sued as an Accessory; so the kid (or parents) would be paying those legal expenses too. Consider this as notice to not operate any unauthorized Server on the 1USA trunklines. Also, the days of happy-go-lucky hosting your own servers are gone. It is no longer "lucky" nowdays, with all the hackers, viruses, trojans and all. The 1USA webmasters are full-time and have years of experience and say "Only a Fool would host an unprotected server nowdays, even on a DSL line." |

Wireless T-1 service in Reading PA 1USA has space on a 85' tower on Mt. Penn, Reading, PA - the same tower that WTVE uses. We will be going into the testing phase of Wireless T-1 lines shortly. Range will be about 6 to 8 miles, maybe farther, depending on tests. A clear line of sight is needed to the tower to be able to use it. Clear line of sight is indicated in blue. Notice the solid coverage in the greater metropolitan area. Additional information will be on http://www.1usa.com/wireless/ as this new service is developed.

Surf the Web safely PC-Cillin 2000 (http://pc-cillin.com) can protect your computer when simply visiting web pages. Thanks to the Nimda virus of Sept 18th, some web pages can contain JavaScript code to infect computers, or even code to copy your computer's System Registry. The System Registry would contain passwords and credit card info if you have "Auto-Complete" turned on. In the new Windows XP, Microsoft wants to maintain custody of your personal data on your behalf. This was covered in detail in a previous newsletter. |

Internet Explorer 6: I'd wait another month or so before downloading the new IE6. If you are at IE 5.01 or earlier, please goto http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download IE 5.5, then go back again and install ServicePak 2. There is no "best" version of Internet Explorer web browser, however with IE 5.5 ServicePak2, the Outlook Express email software no longer automatically RUNS programs that might be included in an email. This is a plus - considering the 650,000 infected websites out there. |

Bounced-Back Emails Some of you send out emails to more than 10 people at a time. Please note that some ISPs - even AOL - will refuse your email if more than 25 or 50 people are sent an email. (One email with 50 Copy-To's) The solutions are: - either break your email newsletters up into groups of 10 addressees per email - or let the Webmasters know that you have an Email Newsletter Group and we'll give you a hand on how to do it. |
