Viruses attached to emails:
An email can contain any file attachment that may be a virus - or contain a
trojan horse embedded virus inside another file.
- usually unknown by the sender. If people knew they were transmitting a virus, then they also know that their
computer is infected !!
If you do not know the person sending you an email, don't be inquisitive and click on any executable-file attachment (.VBS, EXE, SHS, MS Word DOC
or MS Excel file XLS) that comes from an email or a newsgroup article from
an untrusted source - it may be your last click unless you have an up-to-date
virus scanner installed on your computer with an up-to-date scanner/pattern file.
By up-to-date, I mean a fresh one within a week of the publication date.
Downloading an anti-virus program once and hoping it will keep your system disinfected for the next year is a wrong
assumption. You need to manage it and download a new virus detection file every
week.
If your ISP does not offer good antivirus protection, maybe it's time to quit your ISP and join 1USA - to take advantage of our Anti-Virus-protected
